The Arkansas Council for Behavioral Health is a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors representing 26 organizations across the state that serve children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and/or substance use disorders. ACBH members include the designated public Community Mental Health Centers for each county and a variety of private Behavioral Health Agencies that offer a wide range of outpatient services for Arkansas citizens. The Council supports its member organizations in their development and delivery of a community-based continuum of care for the whole person with an emphasis on physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Council member organizations collaborate with local community stakeholders like school systems and the justice system to provide evidence-based treatment to prevent and divert crises and ensure that children, adolescents, and adults with a behavioral healthcare need get the most appropriate treatment that maximizes clinical outcomes at the lowest possible cost. As one in every five people will experience a diagnosable behavioral health condition in any given year, it is critical to the quality of life and health of Arkansas communities that a broad network of high quality and easily accessible behavioral healthcare is readily available to all in need.
